GSTC Sustainability Management Training
The Sustainability training is for hotel management for achieving a good understanding of the required sustainability criteria according to the GSTC (Global Sustainability Tourism Council)
In the year 2022 The Turkish government has decided that all hotels in Turkey need to be certified by a GSTC accredited certification body till 2030, starting the first phase in the year 2023. This implies that all hotels need to follow the criteria set by GSTC.
A good understanding of the criteria and its implementation is a must to be certified. We are in sustainability auditing and consultancy for hotels since 2019.
The criteria are organized around four main themes:
- Effective Sustainability management planning
- Maximizing social and economic benefits for the local community and staff
- Enhancing Cultural heritage
- Reducing negative impacts to the environment
All the criteria will be discussed during the training and after the training the hotel will be ready for certification however Indigo Academy does not certify. This should be done by an accredited GSTC certification body.

GSTC Sustainability Staff Training
According to the GSTC criteria employees/staff need to be trained on sustainability issues. This training is an on the job training for all the employees of the hotel.
In this training we will teach sustainability topics and actions according to the hotel’s sustainability policy, which should be followed.
The following topics will be discussed:
- Saving on resources
- Waste management
- Labour rights
- How to support the local community
- Sustainability project and responsibilities
